Jaisalmer: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the extension of train number 20485/20486 Jodhpur–Sabarmati Express up to Jaisalmer, fulfilling a long-standing demand from the region.

Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed gratitude to the Railway Minister for approving the proposal following his request.

In a communication issued by the Railway Ministry, Vaishnaw confirmed that the Jodhpur–Sabarmati Express will now be extended to Jaisalmer railway station, which is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity for the desert region of Rajasthan.

Shekhawat said the decision will benefit passengers, traders, and tourists traveling to and from Jaisalmer and nearby areas. The extension is also expected to boost tourism and commercial activities in the region.

He further stated that the move aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen transportation connectivity across the country and enhance passenger convenience.

The extension of the train service is being seen as an important step toward meeting a long-pending demand of the region while improving rail access to one of Rajasthan’s key tourist destinations. DeshGujarat
