Ahmedabad: The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, featured matches across eight iconic venues, with five in India and three in Sri Lanka.

The tournament, which concluded with India’s 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final, showcased these grounds in high-stakes games, including group stages, Super Eights, semifinals and the showpiece final.

Rankings below are subjective yet based on key factors such as stadium capacity, historical prestige, number of matches hosted (especially knockouts), atmosphere during the event and overall cricketing legacy. The Narendra Modi Stadium topped the list after hosting the final and delivering electric crowds for India’s title defence.

Hosted seven matches, including the final on March 8. The stadium is iconic for its massive scale, modern facilities and dramatic atmosphere during India’s triumphant campaign.

Hosted seven matches, including Semi-final 1. Eden Gardens remains a legendary venue known for passionate crowds and its rich history as one of cricket’s most storied grounds.

3. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai (India)

Capacity: 33,108

Hosted eight matches, including Semi-final 2. The venue is famous for high-scoring thrillers and the electric energy of Mumbai crowds. It has frequently hosted major finals and semifinals.

4. Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi (India)

Capacity: 55,000

Hosted six matches during the tournament. Its central location and historical significance in Indian cricket make it a premier venue for major international tournaments.

5. M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk), Chennai (India)

Capacity: 39,000

Hosted seven matches. Chepauk is widely known for spin-friendly pitches and passionate Tamil Nadu supporters, making it one of India’s classic cricket venues.

These venues collectively hosted 55 matches, blending India’s massive stadium infrastructure with Sri Lanka’s vibrant cricketing atmosphere.

While Indian stadiums dominated the tournament schedule due to their larger capacities and role in hosting knockout matches, Sri Lankan venues ensured neutral hosting arrangements for certain teams as part of bilateral agreements.

The tournament’s success further highlighted these stadiums as world-class arenas capable of staging major global T20 events.
