Tapi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught a government auditor red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in a trap carried out near Unchamal village in Vyara taluka.
According to ACB officials, the accused, Dharmeshkumar Ratilal Vasava, was posted as Auditor Grade-2 (Milk), Special Auditor at the Milk Audit Office, Nanpura, Surat. His accomplice, Jetalkumar Sujitbhai Gamit, was also caught during the trap.
ACB said the auditor had recently audited the milk cooperative society of the complainant’s village for the financial year 2024-25 and had given a clean report. After the audit, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant in return for the audit report.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap during which the accused auditor allegedly instructed the complainant to hand over the bribe to Jetalkumar Gamit. As soon as the amount of Rs 15,000 was accepted, the ACB team caught both accused persons and recovered the bribe amount from the spot. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
