Gujarat Earns Rs 2,733 Crore from Narmada Water Supply via Sardar Sarovar

Gandhinagar: Details of the income earned by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) from industries, agriculture, and drinking water supply over the last two years were presented in the Gujarat Assembly. According to information provided by the state government, the corporation has earned several crores of rupees through the sale of water.

According to the latest figures, the corporation’s total income during the financial year 2024-25 (up to March 31, 2025) was Rs 1,685.52 crore. In the current financial year 2025-26 (up to January 31, 2026), the total income stands at Rs 1,047.59 crore.

Industries: In 2024-25, income from industries was Rs 490.18 crore, which increased to Rs 545.08 crore in 2025-26 (till January).

Agriculture: In 2024-25, income of Rs 65.48 crore was earned from water supplied for agriculture, while in 2025-26 (till January) the income stood at Rs 11.72 crore.

Drinking water: The highest income was recorded from drinking water supply. In 2024-25, the corporation earned Rs 1,129.86 crore, while in 2025-26 (till January) the income was Rs 490.79 crore.

Water supply quantity

To generate this revenue, a large quantity of water was supplied by the corporation. During 2024-25, a total of 8,751.68 MCM of water was supplied, of which the highest share, 6,709.93 MCM, went to the agricultural sector. Additionally, in 2025-26 (till January), a total of 5,147.02 MCM of water has been supplied.

Central government grant status

Apart from revenue, the state government has also sought grants from the central government for the Sardar Sarovar Project.
For 2024-25, a grant of Rs 11.769 crore was allocated against a demand of Rs 11.79 crore, and the amount has been fully utilised.
