Tapi: In a decoy operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Class-3 employee of the Fisheries Department red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹6,000 at Ukai. The accused, Tejasbhai Rameshbhai Chaudhary, is posted as Assistant Fisheries Superintendent (Class-3) at the office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Inter-Local Fisheries Development Centre, Ukai.
The ACB had received a complaint that officials at the Fisheries office in Ukai were demanding bribes ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹8,000 from beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for processing subsidy benefits meant for purchasing motorcycles and insulated boxes.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap with the help of a decoy. During the operation, the accused demanded ₹6,000 for submitting the required documents and processing the subsidy for the beneficiary.
As per the plan, the complainant handed over the bribe amount of ₹6,000 to the accused at the Assistant Fisheries Superintendent’s office in Ukai, following which the ACB team caught him red-handed and recovered the entire amount. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
