Vadodara to Keep Key Traffic Signals Off During Afternoon Heat Hours
March 16, 2026
Vadodara: In view of the rising temperatures and prevailing heatwave conditions, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to switch off traffic signals at key crossroads in the city during the afternoon hours to provide relief to motorists.
According to VMC, the decision was taken by the Municipal Commissioner after considering the difficulties faced by commuters due to extreme heat. As per the order, traffic signals at selected crossroads will remain non-operational from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm to prevent people from having to wait at junctions under the scorching sun.
The move is aimed at protecting drivers and two-wheeler riders from heat-related problems during peak afternoon hours. Traffic personnel will monitor key junctions to ensure smooth movement of vehicles while the signals remain closed. DeshGujarat
