Vehicle Fitness Centre Staffer Caught Taking Bribe in Decoy Trap by ACB Gujarat

Banaskantha: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a decoy trap operation on Monday and caught an employee of a vehicle fitness centre in Palanpur while accepting a bribe of ₹3,000.

As per the details of the case, the ACB had received a tip-off that staff at the GHV Fitness Center at Chadotar, which has been authorised by the Government Transport Department to check the fitness of vehicles, were allegedly demanding illegal gratification ranging from ₹500 to ₹50,000 from applicants for issuing commercial vehicle fitness certificates for both small as well as heavy vehicles.

Based on this information, the ACB organised a trap. A decoy was sent to the GHV Fitness Center at Chadotar with his rickshaw and relevant documents to obtain a fitness certificate for his Bajaj Maximo CNG rickshaw.

During the trap, the accused, Rehematullah Ibrahimkhan Ghori, working as a visual inspection employee at GHV, demanded a bribe of ₹3,000 from the decoy in addition to the statutory fee of ₹980 for issuing the commercial vehicle fitness certificate. After a brief conversation, the accused accepted the bribe amount of ₹3,000 from the decoy, whereupon the ACB team caught him red-handed at the spot while committing the offence. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
