Jungar village of Gujarat becomes 100% Solar-Powered; Over 350 houses get Rooftop Panels

Amreli: Jungar village in Kunkawav taluka of Amreli has emerged as Gujarat’s new “Solar Village”, with solar power systems installed in every household, making the village fully powered by solar energy.

Jungar village has become a 100% solar-powered village with support from the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, along with contributions from village donors. Solar panels have been installed on more than 350 houses, with financial support from Ravjibhai P. Vasani Group (Ahmedabad) and other donors associated with the village. The project is expected to reduce electricity expenses for residents while promoting clean energy and environmental conservation.

Minister of State for Energy Kaushikbhai Vekaria on Tuesday inaugurated a model lake and launched the ‘Jal Sammelan’ programme at Jungar . Rajula–Jafrabad MLA Hirabhai Solanki was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Vekaria said that along with present-day development, it is equally important to secure the future of the coming generations, and water conservation will play a crucial role in achieving this goal. He said several development works, including roads, anganwadis, school buildings, water storage projects and other infrastructure works, are progressing rapidly in Amreli district.

In another initiative, Minister Kaushikbhai Vekaria also performed the joint foundation-laying ceremony for desilting and deepening of village ponds in 45 villages with support from Girganga Parivar Trust and CSR funding from PGVCL. A total of 45 Hitachi machines have been allocated for the work.

Under the campaign, ponds and check dams in 45 villages will be deepened round the clock over the next two months to increase water storage during the monsoon and ensure adequate irrigation for farmers.
