Dead Fly Found in Food at Upscale Cafe on Sindhubhavan Road; Complaint Filed with AMC

Ahmedabad: A customer had a bitter experience at a popular and upscale café, ‘Komo by Kaffa’, located on Sindhubhavan Road in the city, after allegedly finding a dead fly in the food served to him. The incident has raised concerns over hygiene standards at the well-known eatery.

According to details, Dhruvil Patel, a resident of Shahibaug, had visited the café along with his wife. He ordered pasta with garlic bread, rice with curry, and iced coffee. While eating, he noticed a dead fly in the garlic bread served with the pasta, following which he raised an objection.

The café staff apologised for the lapse and attempted to pacify the customer by waiving off the bill, reportedly of around ₹850, and offering a complimentary pastry. However, unsatisfied with the response, Patel later filed an official complaint with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) food department, alleging negligence in food quality and hygiene.

‘Komo by Kaffa’, considered one of Ahmedabad’s prominent and expensive cafés, is frequently visited by celebrities and cricketers and often witnesses heavy footfall, with waiting times of 20–30 minutes.

The incident has sparked questions over cleanliness standards at premium dining establishments in the city. With the complaint filed with AMC, further probe and action are awaited against the café.

After this incident, another video went viral today in which a customer allegedly found a worm in food served at Brewed by Kaffa, located near SP Ring Road. The café is run by the same Kaffa restaurant group. DeshGujarat
