March 18, 2026
Mehsana: Gujarat’s first cashless claim under the PM-RAHAT (Prime Minister Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) scheme has been registered in Mehsana district, the district health department said. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in coordination with the National Health Authority, Government of India, to provide immediate and free treatment to road accident victims.
According to officials, a 35-year-old man, Amaratbhai Lababhai from Gothiya village in Kadi taluka, was injured in a road accident and underwent orthopedic surgery under the scheme. The total cost of treatment, estimated at ₹47,300, was completely cashless, ensuring that no financial burden fell on the patient’s family. The patient is currently recovering after successful treatment.
An official release stated that the PM-RAHAT scheme has been integrated with the PMJAY-MA ecosystem, under which cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh is provided at empanelled government and private hospitals for the first seven days after a road accident, or up to the prescribed limit. The facility covers treatment of serious injuries, including trauma, surgical cases and polytrauma. The scheme is available not only to Indian citizens but also to foreign nationals visiting India.
The claim process is carried out online through the National Health Authority’s TMS portal, which is integrated with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ eDAR application, making the process fast and transparent.
The district health department has appealed to citizens to approach the nearest empanelled hospital immediately in case of a road accident and avail treatment under the PM-RAHAT scheme without delay. DeshGujarat
