March 21, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a Rs 11.6 crore project to plant and maintain around 9,000 trees along metro corridors, covering areas missed during the 2025 “Mission Million Trees” drive, in which nearly 40 lakh saplings were planted. The garden department will carry out the plantation and maintenance work during the winter and summer of 2026. The proposal, originally estimated at Rs 10 crore, was cleared by the Standing Committee on Friday at 11.5% above the base cost to ensure proper upkeep of the trees.
The committee also approved road resurfacing works worth Rs 75.7 crore in eastern parts of the city, including Rs 36.23 crore for Vastral, Viratnagar and Bhaipura, and Rs 39.43 crore for Indrapuri, Vatva and Isanpur. Both contracts were awarded to a single contractor at about 32% above the estimated cost. DeshGujarat
