Surat’s Shivam Jewels named De Beers’ DTC ‘Sightholder’, marking rare addition after nearly a decade
March 21, 2026
Mukesh Pandit, Surat: Shivam Jewels, a diamond manufacturing company based in the Katargam area of Surat, has been selected as a ‘Sightholder’ by the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), part of the De Beers Group. The development is significant as DTC has added a new sightholder after a gap of around nine years.
Operating from Vastadevdi Road near Gotalawadi Circle, Shivam Jewels is engaged in natural diamond manufacturing, importing rough diamonds and processing them into polished stones. Approximately 90% of its output is exported, with the remaining sold in the domestic market.
The company employs around 1,950 people and reports an annual turnover of about ₹2,700 crore. With the new designation, Shivam Jewels will gain direct access to rough diamond supply from DTC, a move expected to support higher production volumes and exports.
DTC, a key arm of the De Beers Group, distributes rough diamonds to a select group of sightholders globally through periodic allocations. The company, with a history spanning over a century, currently operates its sightholder network across countries including India, Israel, the United States, Sri Lanka and China. Its operations are now headquartered in Botswana.
Sightholder selection is based on criteria such as a company’s track record, operational standards, financial stability, and employment practices. Industry observers say the addition of a Surat-based firm could provide a boost to the city’s diamond sector, which remains a major global hub for diamond cutting and polishing.
Founded in 1995, Shivam Jewels has expanded steadily over the past decade. Company officials attribute the milestone to sustained operational growth and industry experience, including that of its leadership, which has decades of involvement in the diamond trade. DeshGujarat
