Bhopal: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered the transfer of Guna SP Ankit Soni, while four police personnel have been suspended after allegations surfaced that local police accepted a ₹20-lakh bribe after seizing nearly ₹1 crore in cash from a vehicle belonging to a Gujarat-based cumin trader.

The controversy began on March 19, when police stopped an SUV during routine checking near the Ruthiyai outpost area. During the search, officials allegedly recovered around ₹1 crore in cash from the vehicle, which was reportedly linked to a trader from Gujarat dealing in cumin.

It is learnt that instead of informing senior authorities or the Income Tax Department after the recovery, the personnel on duty allegedly struck a deal with the trader. It is alleged that the police kept ₹20 lakh and returned the remaining ₹80 lakh along with the vehicle, allowing it to leave.

The issue escalated after discussions about the alleged deal surfaced on social media. Reports later suggested that the Dharnavada police returned the ₹20 lakh after receiving a phone call from an IPS officer posted in Gujarat.

After the matter came to light, Gwalior Range DIG Amit Sanghi reached Guna late at night and began an inquiry. Acting on the directions of IG Arvind Saxena, four police personnel, including Dharnavada SHO Prabhat Katare, ASI Sajid Hussain, Head Constable Devendra Singh Sikwar, and Constable Sundar Raman, have been suspended.
