RBI Approves Merger of Two More Co-operative Banks in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the voluntary amalgamation of The Bapunagar Mahila Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad with Shri Vinayak Sahakari Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad, under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
According to an official release, the RBI sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (4) of Section 44A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The merger will come into effect from March 27, 2026 (Friday).
With the implementation of the scheme, all branches of The Bapunagar Mahila Co-operative Bank Ltd. will operate as branches of Shri Vinayak Sahakari Bank Ltd. from the effective date of the amalgamation.
The RBI said the approval has been granted following due process under the regulatory provisions governing co-operative banks. DeshGujarat
