Gujarat to add 50,000 PNG connections in 10 days; Sanghavi assures adequate gas, fuel supply
March 28, 2026
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Saturday assured citizens of adequate availability of cooking gas and fuel across the state, and urged them not to heed rumours.
Addressing a press conference, Sanghavi said the state government has taken multiple steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG, PNG, CNG, and petrol, while also cracking down on black marketing and misinformation.
Focus on PNG expansion
The Deputy CM said Gujarat accounts for nearly 23% of the country’s PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections. As part of an accelerated push, around 11,350 commercial connections in Ahmedabad will be shifted to PNG within the next 60 days.
He added that priority is being given to providing PNG connections to hospitals, schools, and other essential social institutions.
In line with the Prime Minister’s call to expand PNG coverage, more than 12,000 new household PNG connections and over 300 commercial connections have been provided in the last 10 days. The state aims to add over 50,000 new PNG connections in the next 10 days.
CNG and LPG supply stable
Sanghavi noted that Gujarat hosts about 12% of the country’s CNG filling stations. The state has around 1.28 crore LPG consumers, and arrangements have been made to ensure smooth and timely supply.
More than 10,000 complaints related to LPG availability have already been resolved, he said, adding that a dedicated war room and helpline have been set up to address issues promptly.
Action against black marketing and rumours
The Deputy CM said strict action is being taken against black marketing and misinformation. So far, 17 persons have been booked for black marketing in the state.
He warned that rumour-mongers would face stringent action, as the government is closely monitoring the situation.
Administrative measures
To strengthen coordination at the grassroots level, district-level committees led by collectors have been formed. These committees will hold meetings by Sunday evening to identify and resolve local issues related to fuel supply.
Additionally, arrangements such as early salary disbursement and meal facilities for labourers are also being ensured to prevent any disruption. DeshGujarat
