Mercury nears 40°C in Gujarat, likely to drop by 2–3°C in two days

Ahmedabad: Maximum temperatures across Gujarat remained largely near normal on March 27, with most cities recording daytime highs in the range of 35°C to 39°C, according to the latest weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department today. Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecast that the mercury is set to witness a gradual fall of 2–3°C over the next two days.
Rajkot emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 38.9°C, which was 0.6°C above normal. Close behind were Amreli at 38.5°C (0.8°C below normal) and Vadodara at 38.0°C (0.7°C below normal).
In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature settled at 37.6°C, slightly 0.7°C below normal, indicating stable weather conditions without any significant heat spike. Similar trends were observed in Surat (37.6°C, +0.8°C) and Deesa (37.6°C, -0.2°C).
Coastal areas reported comparatively lower temperatures, with Dwarka recording 29.0°C (1.0°C below normal), the lowest in the state, followed by Diu at 33.4°C (-0.3°C). Okha, however, stood out among coastal stations with a higher-than-normal maximum of 32.5°C, showing a positive departure of 2.8°C.
Other key locations such as Bhavnagar (37.2°C, -0.1°C), Bhuj (37.0°C, -0.9°C), Gandhinagar (37.0°C, -1.3°C), and Kandla (37.0°C, +1.6°C) also reported temperatures close to seasonal averages.
Overall, Gujarat continues to experience typical late-March weather conditions, with maximum temperatures hovering around normal levels and no immediate signs of an intense heatwave. DeshGujarat
