PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹271 Crore Projects at Sanand and Naroda GIDC

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate development projects worth over ₹271 crore in Sanand and Naroda industrial estates of Gujarat during his visit to the state on March 31, 2026.

The projects, executed by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, are aimed at strengthening industrial infrastructure, improving drainage systems, and enhancing overall ease of doing business in key industrial hubs.

The Sanand industrial estate, spread across around 2,056 hectares in Ahmedabad district, has emerged as a major hub for high-tech industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, and pharmaceuticals, with over 1,150 operational units. To address the persistent issue of waterlogging during the monsoon, GIDC has completed two major drainage projects in the area.

Under the East and West Drain Project, an 18.71-km-long RCC stormwater drainage network has been constructed along both sides of the estate to facilitate the smooth discharge of internal and upstream water. Additionally, an 18.35-km drainage system has been developed near the main entry points along the Sanand–Viramgam highway.

With the completion of these works in March 2026, the Sanand industrial area is moving towards becoming a ‘zero waterlogging’ zone.

Meanwhile, Naroda Industrial Estate, one of the oldest industrial estates in the state, established in 1963, has undergone significant infrastructure upgrades under the state government’s Assistance for Industrial Infrastructure (AII) scheme. Development works worth ₹27.20 crore have been completed, including strengthening and widening of internal roads, lining of stormwater and natural drains, and development of paver blocks, footpaths, and parking facilities over an area of 1.19 lakh square metres. New street lights, high-mast lighting, security cabins, and toilet blocks have also been added.

Officials said the projects will directly benefit thousands of small, medium, and large industries in Sanand and Naroda. Improved drainage systems, smart water metering, CCTV surveillance, and upgraded road infrastructure are expected to ease logistics and enhance operational efficiency, making Gujarat more attractive for global investors.

The event will be attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with senior ministers and industry representatives. DeshGujarat
