PM Modi to Inaugurate 38,949 Rural Houses in Gujarat Under PMAY-G on March 31st

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 38,949 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) (PMAY-G) in Gujarat on March 31, 2026. The houses have been built at an estimated cost of Rs. 651 crore across multiple districts.
PMAY-G is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at providing housing to eligible rural households. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 1.20 lakh is provided to beneficiaries in phases, with funding shared between the Central and State governments in a 60:40 ratio.
According to the state government, additional assistance is provided at the state level. This includes Rs. 50,000 at the roof-casting stage, Rs. 20,000 as an incentive for completing construction within six months of receiving the first installment, and Rs. 5,000 for bathroom construction. Beneficiaries are also eligible for Rs. 25,920 for 90 days of employment under MGNREGA and Rs. 12,000 for toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
In the state budget for 2026–27, a provision of Rs. 1,755 crore has been made for PMAY-G. During the financial year 2025–26, 1,20,381 houses have been constructed and Rs. 1,037.84 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries. The state government has also contributed more than Rs. 470 crore.
From 2016–17 to 2024–25, a total target of 8,38,396 houses was allocated to the state, of which 8,29,221 have been approved. A total of 6,92,554 houses have been completed so far, with an expenditure of Rs. 9,083.68 crore.
District-wise, 10,572 houses have been constructed in Panchmahal at a cost of Rs. 179.18 crore. In 12 districts of Saurashtra and Kutch, 3,976 houses have been built at a cost of Rs. 66.54 crore. Mahisagar accounts for 3,222 houses (Rs. 54.57 crore), Narmada 2,367 houses (Rs. 39.69 crore), Kheda 2,345 houses (Rs. 39.67 crore), and Mehsana 2,281 houses (Rs. 38.57 crore).
Other districts include Dahod with 1,804 houses (Rs. 30.57 crore), Sabarkantha with 1,717 houses (Rs. 28.89 crore), Chhota Udepur with 1,694 houses (Rs. 28.45 crore), Aravalli with 1,556 houses (Rs. 24.31 crore), and Patan with 1,556 houses (Rs. 24.31 crore). Tapi has 949 houses (Rs. 15.88 crore), Surat 933 houses (Rs. 15.29 crore), Valsad 834 houses (Rs. 13.37 crore), Banaskantha 699 houses (Rs. 11.56 crore), Dang 678 houses (Rs. 9.95 crore), Navsari 627 houses (Rs. 9.70 crore), Ahmedabad 345 houses (Rs. 5.76 crore), Vav-Tharad 300 houses (Rs. 5.10 crore), Bharuch 263 houses (Rs. 4.14 crore), Gandhinagar 230 houses (Rs. 3.90 crore), another 182 houses at Rs. 2.87 crore, and Anand 138 houses at Rs. 2.17 crore.
The state government is conducting the Awas Plus Survey 2024 to identify additional eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
