Surat: Western Railway (WR) today commissioned the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at Gangadhra in Surat district, marking a significant milestone in regional logistics and transportation.
Shri Pradeep Kumar, General Manager, Western Railway, inaugurated the terminal and flagged off the first container train from the facility.
Spanning over 44,000 sqm and developed entirely on Western Railway land, the state-of-the-art terminal is expected to enhance industrial efficiency for Surat’s key cement and textile sectors.
By shifting heavy freight movement from road to rail, the initiative is set to promote a cleaner environment, reduce traffic congestion, and enable a more efficient, high-speed network for passenger services. DeshGujarat
