Ahmedabad: The registration process for degree engineering admissions for the new academic session begins today, with the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) announcing that candidates can submit applications online until May 31.
This year, admissions will be conducted for a total of 78,611 seats, including 10,957 seats across 16 government and three grant-in-aid colleges, 156 seats in one autonomous institution, and the majority in 120 self-financed institutes. Additionally, the state government is likely to add around 2,500 seats in government colleges, with a formal announcement expected shortly. In comparison, 41,442 seats were filled last year.
Eligibility for registration is limited to candidates who have appeared for GujCET 2026, JEE 2026, or both. Students who did not appear in the current academic year, even if they had taken these exams previously, will not be eligible.
Candidates who cleared supplementary examinations must upload all relevant mark sheets during registration. Those awaiting improvement exam results will have their updated scores automatically considered.
As per norms set by the All India Council for Technical Education, general category students must have secured at least 45 per cent in Class 12, while reserved category candidates require a minimum of 40 per cent.
Self-financed institutions will fill 50 per cent of their seats independently, including those under the management quota, of which 15 per cent are earmarked for NRI candidates.
Students have been advised to closely follow official instructions and updates on the ACPC website to ensure a smooth application process. DeshGujarat
