NHAI Revises Toll Rates on Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway; New Charges Effective April 1
April 01, 2026
Surat: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has released a public notice detailing revised user fee (toll) rates for several sections of the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway (NE-4), set to take effect today (April 1, 2026). The adjustments will apply to major toll plazas across the Godhra and Surat Project Implementation Units for the 2026–27 financial year.
Impacted Toll Plazas
According to the official notifications, travellers will see updated pricing at the following locations:
- Godhra Unit: Dodka, Fazalpur, Samiyala, Sanpa, and Dahegam plazas along the Vadodara–Bharuch section.
- Surat Unit: Moti Naroli, Ena, and Gandeva toll plazas.
Rate Structure by Vehicle Category
The toll fees vary significantly based on the type of vehicle and the length of the section travelled. Categories include:
- Light Motor Vehicles: Cars, jeeps, and vans
- Mini-buses: LCV/LGV and mini-buses
- Heavy Vehicles: Trucks and buses (2-axle), as well as 3-axle commercial vehicles
- Large Machinery: Heavy Construction Machinery (HCM), Earth Moving Equipment (EME), and Multi-Axle Vehicles (MAV) with 4–6 axles
- Oversized Vehicles: Vehicles with 7 or more axles
For example, at the Dahegam plaza, a single journey for a standard car is priced at ₹205, while oversized vehicles for the same section will be charged ₹1,325. At the Gandeva plaza, a car’s single-trip toll ranges from ₹65 to ₹395, depending on the specific stretch of the expressway used.
Provisions for Local Residents and Frequent Travellers
To accommodate local non-commercial travellers, NHAI has announced an annual pass priced at ₹3,075. This pass is available for individuals who own vehicles registered for non-commercial purposes. Additionally, toll plazas offer discounted rates for return journeys within 24 hours and special rates for monthly passes covering 50 single journeys.
Strict Enforcement on Overloading
NHAI has also issued a stern warning regarding vehicle weight limits. Any vehicle found to be overloaded beyond the permissible limit will be required to pay 10 times the applicable fee. Furthermore, such vehicles will not be allowed to proceed until the excess load is removed, ensuring the safety and longevity of the expressway infrastructure.
These revisions are part of the ongoing management of the NE-4 expressway, a critical component of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase VI. DeshGujarat
