250 Companies Participate in India Rough Diamond Show at SDB

Surat: The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and Surat International Diamond Trade Centre (SIDC) have launched the India Rough Diamond Show (IRDS) at the Surat Diamond Bourse.

The first slot of the 35-day show, scheduled from April 6 to May 10, has received a strong response, with around 250 companies participating in the auction within the first five days.

A Dubai-based company, Star Gems, has displayed rough diamonds worth ₹270 crore at the show. Buyers have arrived not only from Surat but also from cities such as Visnagar, Bhavnagar, Palanpur, and Navsari.

So far, more than 1,000 representatives from around 250 companies have visited the exhibition, with more diamond traders and manufacturers expected to participate.

Overall, rough diamonds worth approximately ₹1,000 crore are expected to be auctioned during the 35-day event. Currently, three slots have been booked by companies including Star Gems and Koin International.

The platform is expected to benefit small and medium diamond producers (MSMEs), enabling them to directly engage with global suppliers at the local level without having to travel abroad to participate in tenders. DeshGujarat
