BJP Wins 42 Seats Unopposed in Navsari Local Polls; Clean Sweep in Gandevi Nagarpalika
April 13, 2026
Navsari: In a major show of political strength ahead of polling, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured 42 seats unopposed across various local bodies in Navsari district, including a complete sweep of the Gandevi Nagarpalika.
The party won all 21 seats in the Gandevi Nagarpalika without a contest, effectively taking control of the civic body even before voting could take place.
According to information, the BJP’s uncontested victories span multiple tiers of local governance. The party secured six seats in the district panchayat and 11 seats in the taluka panchayat without opposition. Additionally, it won three seats in the newly formed Navsari Municipal Corporation (Mahanagarpalika), marking the first election since its establishment.
The total takeover of the Gandevi Municipality was facilitated by significant technical failures within the opposition. Reports indicate that 18 Congress candidates had their nomination forms rejected because the party’s mandates arrived late.
BJP leaders described the outcome as a reflection of the opposition’s organisational weakness. Tribal Affairs Minister Naresh Patel termed the development a “historic event” for both Navsari and Gujarat, adding that both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) struggled to field candidates in the tribal-dominated district.
The results have triggered celebrations among BJP workers across the district. Party leaders also indicated that the number of uncontested seats could rise further as the final scrutiny of nominations is completed. DeshGujarat
