Vapi: In a tragic incident, an elderly man lost his life after falling into a lift shaft at Nirmal Society in Vapi. The fatal accident, reportedly caused by a malfunctioning lift door, was captured on the society’s CCTV cameras.

According to available details, the deceased, a gardener by profession, was waiting for the lift on the third floor of the building. Despite the lift not being present at that level, the lift door opened due to a suspected technical malfunction. Unaware of the danger and amid low visibility, the man stepped forward and fell directly into the lift shaft from the third floor.

The accident initially went unnoticed, as there was no immediate disturbance or sound to alert residents. The incident came to light two days later after a foul smell was detected within the society premises. Upon inspection and review of CCTV footage, residents discovered visuals of the gardener falling into the lift shaft.

Local police rushed to the scene after being informed. The body has been sent for postmortem, and a case of accidental death has been registered. Authorities have initiated further investigation and are expected to examine lift maintenance records and CCTV footage to determine accountability.
