Five Congress candidates withdraw nominations in AMC, Two in VMC election

Ahmedabad: Three more Congress candidates have withdrawn their nominations, making way for the unopposed victory of BJP candidates in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections.
Today is the last day of withdrawal of nomination forms.
In Thaltej ward, Congress candidate Ramila Thakor has withdrawn her nomination, making way for the smooth, unopposed victory of BJP candidate Rita Thakor.
Sarkhej ward Congress candidate Bharat Bharwad had earlier withdrawn his nomination. Today, another Congress candidate, Varis Alvi, has withdrawn his nomination form.
In Chandlodia ward, candidate Pradeep Patel also withdrew his nomination form.
Earlier, the Congress party’s Vasna ward candidate also withdrew her candidature.
In Vadodara, Congress candidate Kanu Prajapati withdrew his nomination from ward number 11. Prajapati said he took the decision on his own without any pressure from anyone. He said he lives in a different ward, and he was given a ticket from ward 11; therefore, he decided not to contest.
