Hair Found in Pizza at William John’s Pizza Outlet; AMC Levies ₹10,000 Fine

Ahmedabad: The Health Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a penalty of ₹10,000 on a William John’s Pizza outlet in the Shahibaug area following a hygiene complaint.

The incident occurred when Dr. Dhruv Patel, a local resident who was dining at the outlet with a friend, found a large strand of hair in his very first bite of a Margherita pizza.

According to the complainant, the restaurant staff did not treat the matter with the necessary seriousness and merely offered to replace the pizza. Dissatisfied with the management’s response, the doctor lodged a formal complaint through the municipal corporation’s helpline.

Following the report, a health department team conducted an immediate inspection of the establishment’s kitchen. During the inspection, officials found unhygienic conditions and a lack of proper cleaning, leading to administrative action and the ₹10,000 fine.

The franchise owner, identified as Abhaybhai, suggested that the hair might have accidentally entered the food during the preparation process. He stated that additional precautions would be implemented to ensure such hygiene breaches do not occur again in the future. Health officials have emphasized that they will continue to monitor food establishments to ensure public safety. DeshGujarat
