AMC Seals Restaurant for Footpath Damage; Fines Builder for Littering on SG Highway
April 21, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has intensified its crackdown against entities littering public roads and damaging civic infrastructure, taking strict action in the Gota ward of the North-West Zone.
During a recent enforcement drive by the Solid Waste Management Department, action was taken against two major units. A restaurant on Science City Road was sealed, and fines totalling ₹1.5 lakh were imposed in separate cases.
According to officials, Jalaram Restaurant in Gota ward damaged a newly constructed footpath while carrying out repairs to its sewer line. Taking serious note of the violation, a team led by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner sealed the premises with immediate effect and imposed a penalty of ₹50,000 for damage to municipal property.
In another instance, Iwara Infrastructure Tower on SG Highway was penalised after its dumpers allegedly spilled debris on public roads, leading to littering and road damage. A fine of ₹1 lakh was collected from the unit by the Sanitary Sub-Inspector.
AMC officials reiterated that such strict enforcement drives will continue against violators, particularly those using banned plastic, failing to maintain proper waste disposal systems, or littering on public roads. DeshGujarat
