AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava Slaps Tribal Man, Gets Slapped Back; Video Goes Viral

Bharuch: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava has found himself in yet another controversy after getting involved in a physical altercation with a tribal man. The altercation, which involved an exchange of slaps, has sparked a heated debate over the MLA’s role in the ongoing compensation negotiations involving victims of the fire at Metropolitan Eximchem Pvt. Ltd.

The dispute stems from a fire incident that occurred a few days ago at the company located in Jhagadia GIDC, which resulted in two fatalities and left 14 others injured. On Monday, MLA Chaitar Vasava arrived at the facility claiming to represent the family regarding compensation. However, a video surfaced showing the MLA slapping Roshan Vasava, a cousin of the deceased worker Rakesh Vasava, who immediately slapped the MLA in return.

Family Alleges Political Instigation

Following the incident, Roshan Vasava, a relative of the deceased, issued a statement accusing the MLA of interfering in a settlement that was already nearing a positive conclusion.

According to Roshan, the company management and police (PSI) had been responsive and offered the family two options: a one-time lump-sum payment or a monthly salary of approximately ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 with a 5% annual increase for the remaining 27 to 28 years of the victim’s service. Additionally, the company agreed to pay ₹15 lakh in Workers’ Compensation (WC) immediately.

Roshan Vasava alleged that Chaitar Vasava was “instigating people” for personal financial gain rather than the welfare of the tribal community. “He has come here only for money… not for the community,” Roshan said, adding that the MLA would be held responsible for any future unrest or damage to the company.

In response to the controversy, Chaitar Vasava maintained that his involvement was at the request of the grieving family. He told the media that the family had approached him seeking justice, which prompted his visit to the company to negotiate on their behalf.

Reacting to the incident, Valsad BJP MP Dhaval Patel stated that Chaitar Vasava has a criminal background with 19 serious offences against him, and he is currently out on bail. He has a criminal mindset and has assaulted a tribal person today. This comes even when his party is not in power, and therefore serves as a caution for voters. Chaitar went to another district, outside his constituency, for his own political benefit and jumped in. He has used tribals for his politics, and today he slapped a tribal person. Tribal families and the community must reflect on this. DeshGujarat
