BJP Sweeps All 15 Municipal Corporations in Gujarat Local Polls 2026

Ahmedabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a thumping victory in the 2026 Gujarat local body elections, winning control of all 15 municipal corporations that went to polls.

According to the consolidated results, BJP secured an overwhelming majority in key civic bodies including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Jamnagar, among others. The party not only crossed the halfway mark comfortably in every corporation but also recorded several landslide victories, with multiple seats won unopposed.

In Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, BJP won 153 out of 177 declared seats, further strengthening its hold over the state’s largest civic body. Similarly, in Surat, the party delivered one of its most emphatic performances, winning 115 out of 120 seats.

In Rajkot, BJP secured 65 out of 72 seats, while in Vadodara, it won 55 of the 58 declared seats. Jamnagar saw BJP bag 60 out of 64 seats, reinforcing its dominance in Saurashtra.

The party also swept smaller corporations with equally strong margins. In Gandhidham, BJP won 41 out of 52 seats, while in Mehsana, it secured 47 out of 52 seats. In Surendranagar and Nadiad, BJP nearly swept the polls, winning 51 out of 52 seats in each.

Notably, BJP achieved a clean sweep in Morbi and Porbandar, winning all 52 seats.

Other corporations such as Bhavnagar (44/52), Navsari (50/52), Vapi (37/52), and Karamsad-Anand (43/52) also witnessed decisive BJP victories.

The main opposition party, Congress (INC), lagged far behind, managing only limited wins across a handful of wards, while independents and other parties had a marginal presence.

With this clean sweep across all municipal corporations, BJP has once again consolidated its dominance in Gujarat’s urban political landscape, sending a strong political message ahead of future electoral contests. DeshGujarat
