Crane Cable Snap Kills Supervisor at HN Safal Project on ISKCON-Ambli Road

Ahmedabad: A site supervisor was killed and another seriously injured after a crane cable snapped at an under-construction site on ISKCON-Ambli Road in the city on Thursday, officials said.

The incident occurred at the ‘Mondeal Two’ project site of HN Safal, where two workers were reportedly in a gondola during painting work when the cable broke, causing them to fall from a height. One worker died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the other sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for treatment.

The site falls under F.Plot No. 66 of TP Scheme No. 51 in the Bodakdev ward, where commercial construction up to 13 floors had been approved. The AMC said the building structure was largely complete, and finishing work was underway at the time of the accident.

Following the incident, authorities have issued notices to the developer, architects, engineers, and site supervisors, seeking an explanation within a day. Construction activity at the site has been ordered to be suspended, and the project’s approval has been put on hold pending further inquiry.

Police from the Satellite police station reached the spot soon after the incident, sent the body for post-mortem, and initiated legal proceedings. An investigation has been launched to ascertain whether any lapses in worker safety or construction protocols contributed to the accident.

The incident has once again raised concerns over safety standards at construction sites in the city. DeshGujarat
