Marine Police seize 10 packets of ‘narcotics’ on Khidrat Island off Gujarat coast

Kutch: Ten packets suspected to contain narcotics were found abandoned on Khidrat Island off the Jakhau coast, prompting the Jakhau Marine Police to register a case and launch an investigation.

According to police, a patrol team from Jakhau Marine Police Station, led by PI V.M. Jhala, recovered the packets during routine patrolling around 12:15 pm on April 29. The packets were found in unclaimed condition and were seized.

The contents of the packets are yet to be confirmed, and samples have been sent for forensic analysis. However, preliminary inputs suggest the consignment may be linked to sea-based narcotics smuggling.

Police have intensified search operations in the surrounding coastal areas and stepped up surveillance following the recovery. The Kutch coastline, considered long and strategically sensitive, has witnessed similar incidents of narcotics and contraband being found in the past.

Authorities are also coordinating with intelligence agencies to trace the origin of the consignment and identify those involved. DeshGujarat
