AMC Seizes 6 Unhygienic Panipuri Carts, Destroys Stale Food

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has stepped up enforcement in Behrampura and Lambha wards to prevent waterborne diseases, cracking down on unhygienic food outlets and littering in the South Zone.

During a coordinated drive involving the health, solid waste management and estate departments, officials inspected 64 units. Action was taken against vendors selling unhygienic panipuri as well as establishments contributing to public littering.

As part of the operation, six panipuri carts were seized and fines amounting to ₹37,000 were imposed. Officials also destroyed around 10 kg of inedible food and 17 litres of unsafe liquid found during inspections.

Civic officials added that the South Zone’s solid waste management department has collected nearly ₹21 lakh in penalties from units operating in vegetable markets, commercial complexes and food markets for failing to maintain dustbins and for causing littering. DeshGujarat
