AMC Issues Yellow Alert as Ahmedabad Braces for Intense Heat Over Next 7 Days

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued a yellow heat alert for the city from May 4 to May 10, warning residents of rising temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 41°C and 42°C during this period.

Under its Heat Action Plan, the civic body has identified 50 hotspots across 15 wards in six zones of the city. Based on air temperature data, these locations have been marked as areas with a high probability of extreme heat conditions, enabling residents to take necessary precautions.

To enhance public awareness, AMC has launched a dedicated digital portal and a QR code-based system. These platforms provide three-day advance forecasts of maximum temperatures, particularly focusing on peak heat hours between 12 pm and 5 pm. While the forecasts may have a margin of error of 2–3°C, the data is updated every three days to maintain accuracy.
