Gujarat Govt declares 2% DA hike for staffers, pensioners
May 05, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has approved a 2% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. With this revision, the DA has been raised from 58% to 60% of basic pay, effective January 1, 2026.
The decision follows the Government of India’s decision last month, which announced a similar 2% hike in DA for central government employees and pensioners.
As per the state government’s order, the revised DA will be paid with the May 2026 salary. Arrears for the period from January to April 2026 will be disbursed in a single instalment along with the May salary (to be paid in June 2026). Pensioners will also receive arrears for the same period accordingly.
The revised DA will be applicable to all state government employees and pensioners, including those under panchayats whose provident fund accounts are maintained by the state government. It will also cover teaching and non-teaching staff of secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as employees of grant-in-aid institutions receiving benefits under the 7th Pay Commission.
Additionally, primary teachers, employees on deputation or transfer in panchayats, and temporary staff receiving pay under the 7th Pay Commission will be eligible for the revised DA, with necessary modifications.
The additional financial burden on panchayats, grant-in-aid institutions, and non-government schools will be managed as per existing rules. DeshGujarat
