Five Held in Ahmedabad Airport Missing Gold Consignment Case

Ahmedabad: The airport police have arrested five persons, including an airline security manager, in connection with the disappearance of a parcel containing gold jewellery worth ₹2.58 crore that was being transported from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru through an airline cargo shipment from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport.
According to police, the gold consignment belonged to Titan Company and was booked for delivery to Bengaluru through Akasa Air cargo services. In the early hours of April 18, a total of seven jewellery parcels were handed over at Cargo X-Ray Gate No. 4 at the airport for transportation.
After the shipment reached Bengaluru, authorities discovered that one of the parcels containing gold jewellery weighing around 2.107 kg was missing. The value of the missing consignment was estimated at ₹2.58 crore.
Following an investigation, airport police arrested five accused, including an airline security manager identified as Zaid, a receiver named Ravi, and the alleged mastermind, Sultan. Police also identified a goldsmith, Yogesh, as an accused in the case; however, he remains absconding.
Officials said the accused were tracked and arrested following a detailed probe into the movement of the cargo consignment. However, police have not yet disclosed the exact motive behind the alleged theft, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
