₹2.6 Crore Gold Shipment from Ahmedabad Airport Goes Missing; FIR Filed Against Akasa Air

Ahmedabad: A logistics company has filed a police complaint against Akasa Air after a parcel of gold jewellery, valued at over ₹2.58 crore, went missing during a flight from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru.

As per the FIR filed at the Ahmedabad Airport Police Station by Balveersinh Rathod, a security manager at Sequel Logistics, the company was responsible for transporting gold jewellery for Titan Limited. On the morning of April 18, 2026, seven parcels of jewellery weighing approximately 13 kg were handed over to Akasa Air at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city. The shipment was scheduled for flight QP-1901 to Bengaluru.

However, when the logistics team in Bengaluru went to collect the shipment, they found that one of the seven parcels was missing. The lost parcel weighed 2.107 kg and contained gold jewellery with an estimated value of ₹2,58,10,764.

The complainant alleged that, despite repeated inquiries, the airline failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or locate the missing gold.

The airport police have registered a case against the airline under BNS Sections 316(2) and 316(4), which typically relate to criminal breach of trust. Police Inspector Arvind Devabhai Chavda has been assigned to lead the investigation.

Authorities are currently reviewing cargo handling procedures and security footage at both airports to determine how the high-value parcel went missing. DeshGujarat
