Gujarat Reels Under Intense Heat; Mercury Touches 43.7°C in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Large parts of Gujarat continued to reel under intense summer heat, with several cities recording maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Monday, according to the latest weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning.

Ahmedabad emerged as one of the hottest locations in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 43.7°C, which was 1.7 degrees above normal. Surendranagar followed closely at 43.3°C, while Amreli recorded 42.9°C. Rajkot and Vadodara also remained under severe heat conditions, registering 42.2°C and 42.0°C, respectively.

Bhuj recorded a high of 40.4°C, while Bhavnagar touched 40.3°C. Surat registered a maximum temperature of 39.6°C, nearly 3.9 degrees above normal, marking one of the highest departures from seasonal averages across the state.

Among coastal regions, temperatures remained relatively lower due to maritime influence. Dwarka recorded 32.6°C, Veraval 31.9°C, Okha 34.8°C, and Daman 35.6°C.

Humidity levels remained high in coastal areas, with Veraval recording 83 per cent relative humidity during the morning hours, followed by Okha and Kandla at 81 per cent.

Meanwhile, minimum temperatures in major cities also remained elevated. Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 28.6°C, while Vadodara reported 29.6°C, indicating warm night conditions.

Weather conditions suggest that heat stress is likely to persist across several parts of Gujarat, especially in inland districts where daytime temperatures continue to remain significantly above normal levels. DeshGujarat
