AMC Issues Orange and Yellow Heat Alerts for Ahmedabad City Up to May 25
May 18, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), under its Heat Action Plan, has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for the city for the next seven days, warning that the maximum temperature could climb up to 43°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.
According to the IMD forecast, the city is expected to witness daytime temperatures of around 43°C from May 18 to May 20, with minimum temperatures remaining between 28°C and 29°C. An Orange alert has been issued for these three days, with heatwave conditions expected to persist. Thereafter, from May 21, temperatures are expected to remain elevated at around 42°C through May 25, for which a Yellow alert has been issued.
As part of its Heat Action Plan, AMC, in collaboration with Satleo Labs, has developed a forecasting system using satellite-based Land Surface Temperature (LST) data. The system employs Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)-based algorithms to analyse air temperature data at a 30×30 metre pixel level and identify zones expected to record unusually high temperatures.
Areas projected to experience significantly higher temperatures are marked as “hotspots.” The forecast data is made available three days in advance and carries a possible variation of 2–3°C. The information is regularly updated through a dedicated online platform and QR code access attached below. DeshGujarat
