Vadodara – Godhra Stretch of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Set for Official Opening on May 20

Vadodara: Around a month after being opened on a trial basis, the Vadodara-Godhra section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is scheduled for its official inauguration on May 20.

The stretch, which includes Packages 29, 30, and 31 of the Vadodara–Virar section of the nation’s largest greenfield expressway, has been open for public trials since April 13. The official opening on Wednesday will mark the full commencement of formal operations. The expressway has reduced travel time between the two cities in central Gujarat to around 45 minutes, providing a high-speed link for thousands of daily commuters.

During the trial phase, essential emergency facilities such as crane services and ambulance support were not fully available. These are expected to be integrated as part of the official launch.

A major highlight of this engineering project is its intersection with another landmark infrastructure initiative the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor. At this location, a massive steel bridge has been constructed over the expressway. The bridge was specifically designed with large support pillars and advanced engineering technology to ensure that the bullet train infrastructure does not interfere with traffic movement on the expressway below.

Once fully completed, the 1,386-kilometre expressway will connect Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, significantly transforming the nation’s logistics and transportation landscape. DeshGujarat
