AMC Issues Orange, Yellow Heat Alerts for Ahmedabad City Till May 28

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), under its Heat Action Plan, has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for the city over the next seven days, warning of continued high temperatures with the mercury expected to touch up to 44°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.

According to the IMD forecast, Ahmedabad is likely to witness maximum temperatures of around 43°C on May 21 and May 22, with minimum temperatures remaining steady at 28°C. Heat conditions are expected to intensify further on May 23, when the maximum temperature may rise to 44°C. Orange alerts have been issued for the first three days, with the probability of heatwave conditions ranging from “most likely” to “very likely.”

From May 24 onwards, temperatures are expected to remain elevated between 42°C and 43°C through May 27. A Yellow alert has been issued for this period, indicating continued hot weather conditions, although the intensity is expected to reduce slightly compared to the earlier days.

The IMD forecast also indicates that heatwave conditions are “likely” to continue during the latter part of the week. Citizens, especially children, senior citizens and those working outdoors, have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and take necessary precautions. DeshGujarat
