Ahmedabad: An illegal slaughterhouse located near the cattle market wall opposite Nagina Masjid in Ram Rahim Tekro area of Danilimda was demolished on Friday during a joint operation conducted by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Danilimda Police.
According to Danilimda Police, the action was initiated after authorities received information that anti-social elements involved in offences under the Gujarat Animal Protection Act had illegally constructed a structure and were allegedly carrying out unlawful animal slaughter activities there.
Police identified the accused as Sameer alias Sabirbhai Khokhar and Shahrukh Sabirbhai Qureshi, both residents of Ram Rahim Tekro in the Behrampura-Danilimda area. Officials said both individuals have previous criminal records under the Gujarat Animal Protection Act.
According to police officials, the accused had allegedly erected the structure near the cattle market fence opposite Nagina Masjid and were using the premises for illegal slaughter activities.
Authorities also received inputs that anti-social elements had been using the site and that the unauthorised structure had encroached upon road space.
Following the findings, police and civic authorities carried out the demolition with adequate police deployment to maintain law and order during the operation. Officials said the action was aimed at curbing unlawful activities and maintaining peace in the area.
Danilimda Police Inspector C.T. Desai said further legal action is being taken in the matter. DeshGujarat
