Fire Breaks Out at Wax Factory in Kalol’s Santej Area; Major Call Declared

Kalol: A major fire broke out on Friday at a wax manufacturing factory identified as ‘Faith’ in the Santej area of Kalol, prompting authorities to declare a “major call” as firefighters battled the blaze.

According to Additional Chief Fire Officer Mihir Rana, the factory owner claimed that the fire may have initially started due to a short circuit involving wax drums and other chemicals stored on the premises. Thick plumes of black smoke were visible from several kilometres away, triggering concern in nearby areas. No casualties have been reported so far.

Firefighting teams from Kalol, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Sanand and nearby areas rushed to the spot and launched intensive efforts to bring the blaze under control. Officials said the rising heat and intensity of the fire were creating challenges for firefighting operations.

Meanwhile, Santej police cordoned off the area and cleared crowds from the site as a precautionary measure. The Kalol Mamlatdar also reached the spot and monitored the situation.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed and will be determined after firefighting operations conclude and a detailed investigation is carried out. DeshGujarat
