Ahmedabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has levelled serious allegations of corruption and misconduct against the administration of NHL Medical College, including the hostel committee and rector, and has demanded immediate action along with registration of an FIR against those allegedly involved.

In a letter addressed to Dean Dr. Cherry Shah on Monday, the student organisation claimed that illegal activities and corrupt practices were taking place within the college hostel premises.

According to the letter issued by the Karnavati Metropolitan unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, liquor was allegedly being supplied to both boys’ and girls’ hostels. ABVP claimed to possess video evidence related to the allegations and further alleged that some college officials were involved in the supply chain.

The organisation also alleged that hostel rooms had been illegally allotted to former students and individuals having no connection with the college. As per the allegations, rooms were allegedly allotted by the hostel rector and members of the college administration after accepting bribes ranging between ₹8,000 and ₹10,000.

ABVP further alleged that bribes were being taken for installation of air conditioners in hostel rooms. The letter specifically named hostel rector Ajit, accusing him of demanding money for granting permission to install AC units.

Demanding strict action, ABVP called for the immediate removal of the hostel rector and the hostel committee. The organisation also sought registration of an official FIR against all those allegedly involved in the matter.

The letter warned that if the demands were not fulfilled, ABVP would intensify its agitation and continue protests until action was taken.

The representation was issued under the name of Dhrumil Akhani, identified as Karnavati Metropolitan Secretary of ABVP.
