Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sealed a Bodakdev unit of Mocha Cafe after multiple customers allegedly found insects in coffee and food items served at the outlet, prompting complaints to the civic body’s food department.

According to AMC, four to five customers reported spotting insects in beverages and food during their visit to the cafe. An online complaint was subsequently filed with the AMC, following which the civic body’s food department initiated action and inspection proceedings.

One of the customers, Kuldeep Singh Makwana, alleged that he had visited Mocha Cafe in Bodakdev for coffee when he found insects in his drink. He further claimed that another customer seated nearby also found insects in food served at the cafe.

After raising objections with the cafe staff, customers reportedly inspected the kitchen area, where they allegedly noticed a large number of cockroaches and other insects moving around. The matter was then reported to the AMC food department.

Officials said the food department team visited the premises for inspection and initiated further action based on hygiene-related violations. The unit has been sealed pending investigation. DeshGujarat
