GIFT City Investment Fraud: Main Accused’s Wife Held at Ahmedabad Airport; BMW Seized

Ahmedabad: In a major breakthrough in the multi-crore investment fraud linked to a GIFT City-based firm accused of selling digital cloud storage space and promising investors fixed monthly rental returns, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested two more accused.
The suspects, identified as Bhumi, a resident of Meghraj, and Dhruv from Mehsana, were apprehended at Ahmedabad airport while allegedly attempting to flee abroad. Bhumi is the wife of the prime accused, Utpal Patel.
According to investigators, the accused had allegedly diverted investors’ funds to establish a company in Udaipur. The latest arrests come after the earlier detention of two other suspects, including the Aravalli District Congress president.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the SIT has also seized a luxury BMW car believed to be linked to the proceeds of the fraud.
Police officials said the probe is being intensified to trace the money trail, gather additional evidence and identify other individuals involved in the scam. Efforts are also underway to locate and arrest the main accused, Utpal Patel, who remains absconding. DeshGujarat
