May 30, 2026
Ahmedabad: Residents of several areas in Surat’s Varachha Zone-A are likely to face disruption in water supply on June 2 as the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced a temporary shutdown of its Magob (E-3) Water Distribution Station due to a scheduled power outage.
According to SMC, the shutdown will be carried out from 7 am to 3 pm on June 2 to facilitate pre-monsoon maintenance work at the 66 KV Puna substation being undertaken by DGVCL and GETCO. As a result, water supply from multiple Elevated Storage Reservoirs (ESRs) in the East Zone-A area will be affected.
The disruption is expected to impact localities supplied through ESRs E-6, E-7, E-8, E-9, E-9A and E-10, covering areas such as Puna, Magob, Shivnagar, Ishwarnagar, Kailasnagar, Chamunda Nagar, Ambikaniketan, Puna Gamtal, Bhayanagar, Reshma Row House, Mahavir Nagar, Muktidham Society, Vikram Nagar, Santoshi Nagar, Ganganagar, Radhaswamy Nagar, Dhanvarsha Society, Silicon Park and several adjoining residential societies.
SMC said water supply in the affected areas may remain suspended, be available at low pressure, or be supplied in reduced quantity during the shutdown period.
The civic body has advised residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the disruption. SMC also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and sought cooperation from citizens while the maintenance work is carried out.
