Gujarat Govt Transfers 16 GAS Officers, Promotes 52 to Senior Scale

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Monday issued a major administrative reshuffle in the Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS), transferring 16 Class-I officers and promoting 52 Junior Scale officers to the Senior Scale, according to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).

The notification, signed by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Anju Sharma, includes appointments across key departments such as revenue, rural development, urban administration, transport, civil supplies, land records, tribal development, and municipal administration.

Among the notable transfers, Dr. B.S. Prajapati, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence in Kutch, has been appointed Additional Collector (Narmada) at Vadodara. J.K. Jegoda, Resident Additional Collector of Mehsana, has been posted as Additional Director in the Commissionerate of Geology and Mining, Gandhinagar, while Y.B. Jhala, Resident Additional Collector of Navsari, has been appointed Additional Inspector General of Registration, Gandhinagar.

D.M. Pandya, Director of DRDA Navsari, has been transferred as Additional Collector (UID) at the Gujarat Social Infrastructure Development Society (GSIDS), Gandhinagar. R.S. Desai, Resident Additional Collector of Anand, has been posted as Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara Municipal Corporation.

The government has also transferred M.M. Joshi, Additional Collector in the Chief Minister’s Office, as Chief Administrative Officer of the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB), Gandhinagar. D.N. Rank, Additional Collector (Election) in the Chief Electoral Officer’s Office, has been appointed Additional Collector in the Chief Minister’s Office.

As part of the promotion exercise, 52 GAS Class-I (Junior Scale) officers have been elevated to the Senior Scale and posted to various positions across the state.

Among the promoted officers, V.K. Sambad has been appointed Additional Collector, Banaskantha, while M.V. Desai has been posted as Resident Additional Collector, Devbhumi Dwarka. V.D. Sakariya has been appointed Resident Additional Collector, Surendranagar, and H.M. Zankat as Resident Additional Collector, Dang-Ahwa.

Several newly promoted officers have been assigned to key posts in district administrations, District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs), transport offices, tribal development projects, land records departments, and state government corporations. New Additional Collector posts have also been created in districts including Banaskantha, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Surat, and Gandhinagar.

The state government clarified that the promotions will remain subject to the final outcome of several pending cases before the Gujarat High Court, including Special Civil Applications (SCAs) related to the GAS cadre.
