Gujarat Titans Team Bus Breaks Down While Returning from Narendra Modi Stadium After IPL 2026 Final

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans’ disappointing IPL 2026 final defeat was followed by an unexpected scare off the field when the team bus reportedly suffered a short circuit while returning from Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday night.

According to reports, the bus developed a short circuit while transporting the team back to its hotel, forcing an immediate evacuation. Smoke reportedly spread inside the vehicle, prompting players and staff members to disembark as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

The team members waited by the roadside for some time before an alternative bus was arranged to take them to the hotel safely.

The incident capped a difficult few days for the Shubman Gill-led side. Ahead of the final, the team’s arrival in Ahmedabad was delayed due to adverse weather conditions across north-western India. Heavy rain reportedly held up GT’s chartered flight by nearly three hours, resulting in a late arrival on Saturday and forcing the postponement of the scheduled captains’ photoshoot featuring Shubman Gill and RCB skipper Rajat Patidar.

The Titans had also endured a demanding travel schedule during the playoffs. After losing Qualifier 1 to RCB in Dharamsala on May 26, the team travelled to Chandigarh and then defeated Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at Mullanpur on May 29 to secure a place in the final.

Reflecting on the season after the title clash, GT captain Shubman Gill said there were valuable lessons to take forward despite the team’s impressive campaign.

“We couldn’t get over the line, but there are always things that you could improve on. Even if we had won the trophy, there were things that we felt as a group we needed to work on,” Gill said during the post-match presentation.

The final loss, coupled with the bus incident, brought a dramatic end to Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2026 campaign. DeshGujarat
