Rajkot: Western Railway on Tuesday highlighted the transformation of Bhaktinagar railway station in Rajkot under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, showcasing a range of upgraded passenger amenities and modern infrastructure developed as part of the redevelopment project.

Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek visited the station, reviewed the completed works, and interacted with mediapersons. During the visit, he outlined the new facilities introduced to enhance passenger convenience and improve the overall travel experience.

A key industrial and commercial railway hub in the Saurashtra region, Bhaktinagar station has been modernized at a total cost of ₹26.80 crore. The project includes ₹11.81 crore spent on station redevelopment and ₹14.99 crore on the construction of foot overbridges (FOBs).

The station serves approximately 4,700 passengers daily.

Major improvements include Kota stone flooring on Platform 1, extended platform shelters on Platforms 2 and 3, ACP-clad station buildings, and dedicated entry and exit gates. A renovated station building covering around 8,600 sq ft and a 2,760 sq-ft concourse hall have also been developed.

Passenger amenities now include air-conditioned waiting halls for men and women, a VIP room, upgraded sanitation facilities, improved signage, and enhanced lighting and ventilation systems.

The station premises have been beautified with landscaped gardens and circulating areas spanning more than 25,000 sq ft. Additional facilities include improved parking arrangements for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and Divyangjan passengers, along with a tensile-roof entrance porch.

Accessibility and utility upgrades feature ramps, tactile pathways, modular toilets, a one-lakh-litre underground water sump, and a 50,000-litre overhead RCC water tank.

To facilitate smoother passenger movement, a 12-metre-wide main foot overbridge and an additional 3.66-metre-wide FOB on the Veraval side have been completed. Installation of modern lifts on both bridges is currently in progress. DeshGujarat
