ACB Gujarat Nabs Land Surveyor in Bribery Case

Nadiad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught a land surveyor attached to the District Inspector Land Records (DILR) office in Nadiad red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 for completing land measurement work without raising objections.

According to the ACB, the complainant, along with his younger brother and cousins, had purchased agricultural land through a registered sale deed in 2023. To divide the land among the co-owners, the complainant had submitted an online application through the Gujarat government’s IORA portal seeking measurement of their respective shares.

The accused surveyor, Dilipsinh Budhaji alias Budhabhai Chauhan, subsequently visited the land, conducted the measurement and recorded the complainant’s statement. However, the demarcation pegs marking the measured land shares were not installed. When the complainant requested completion of the demarcation process, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 90,000 to carry out the measurement properly, install the boundary pegs, refrain from raising objections and complete the proceedings.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Anand ACB office and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, ACB officials organized a trap on June 5. During the operation, the accused allegedly reiterated his demand and accepted Rs 90,000 from the complainant, following which he was apprehended on the spot. The entire bribe amount of Rs 90,000 was recovered from his possession.
